.profile 或 .bash_profile

Question

我很困惑，我在哪里设置环境变量？

在 .profile 中还是在 .bash_profile 中？

我同时使用 mac osx 和 ubuntu。

对我在这里使用哪一个感到困惑。

阅读http://www.gnu.org/software/bash/manual/bashref.html#Bash-Startup-Files：

 When Bash is invoked as an interactive login shell, or as a 
 non-interactive shell with the --login option, it first reads 
 and executes commands from the file /etc/profile, if that file
 exists. After reading that file, it looks for ~/.bash_profile, 
 ~/.bash_login, and ~/.profile, in that order, and reads and executes
 commands from the first one that exists and is readable. The 
 --noprofile option may be used when the shell is started to inhibit
 this behavior.

其他外壳也加载~/.profile（zsh，tcsh）..所以，我会将环境内容放入~/.profile.
